About Patchworks

At Patchworks, I piece and quilt textiles into functional art, with a focus on upcycled and secondhand materials.

My projects often involve small quantities of quality fabrics purchased from local quilt and fabric shops, combined with thrifted textiles, upcycled materials like old sheets and clothing, and gifted and thrifted batting and other materials. I love finding creative ways to use things I find in thrift stores, resale shops, my local Buy Nothing Facebook group, Front Porch Forum, and yard sales to extend the lives of textiles, keep them out of landfills, and turn them into exciting new pieces that bring joy!

Community is central to what I do, and I love connecting with others at craft fairs, swaps, workshops, classes, and more. Check out the “Events” tab to see what’s coming up on my agenda!

I also serve on the steering committee for a local sewing cooperative and makers space - drop on by if you’re an NEK local or passing through!

About me

Hi there, I'm Jessie!

I love piecing and quilting textiles into functional art, with a focus on upcycled and secondhand materials.

My community and the earth are always on my mind in the work I do.

In my "day job," I work with the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) to fundraise and build relationships with business donors, as we work to promote organic practices and build an economically viable, ecologically sound, and socially just Vermont agricultural system that benefits all living things. I also work on an organic vegetable farm, and find so much joy in being a part of growing beautiful food, and sharing it with my community.

In my sewing studio, I use thrifted and upcycled materials to make exciting and functional wardrobe staples and accessories that bring joy and extend the life of textiles.

I live on Abenaki land, in the town of St. Johnsbury in Vermont's incredible Northeast Kingdom, with my partner Liam and my cat Winnie.
